During the 1960's and 1970's the French Navy (- the Marine Nationale) issued their underwater combat divers with commercial divers watches from Tudor, Doxa, Triton and ZRC. Although the watches were tough and met the military specifications the straps were often too small and non-adjustable so the divers struggled to fit them over their thick rubber wetsuits. So the MN divers used to choose and make their own straps.Some of the divers used elastic webbing cut from the straps of French Army parachutes to make a single pass watch strap. Due to their simple steel buckle and hook the straps were comfortable and could even be adjusted with one hand. If you have a great watch but it's uncomfortable to wear then you need to swap the strap. These MN Style elastic Military style Straps are arguably the most comfortable strap you will ever wear. Because of the stretch and elasticity the straps will expand and contract with the natural swelling in your write.
